Patrol Division

Patrol is the backbone of the law enforcement side of the Sheriff's Office.  They respond to calls for service, patrol the county, and generally maintain order outside the city limits in Ector County.  That is not to say they will not respond to calls within the city if specifically requested to do so, but their assigned districts are outside the city limits.  They have jurisdiction in any part of the city which lies within Ector County. Patrol is responsible for coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year any place within Ector County.

The patrol division is comprised of four shifts.  The shifts work twelve hour tours of duty. On any given day, two of the shifts will work, while two shifts are off.  When a shift is off, the entire shift is off.

Each shift is run by a Lieutenant who is backed up by a Sergeant. These supervisors report to the Crime Control Bureau Captain.  Every deputy is a Texas Licensed Peace Officer who meets or exceeds state mandated training requirements.
