Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program

The Health Department is responsible for providing case management on children identified as born to Hepatitis B (HBsAg) positive mothers, as well as, sexual and household contacts of identified mothers.  This includes conducting investigations on all reported cases, provided Hepatitis B vaccine to sexual & household contacts of the positive client as indicated (utilizing the current fees for the vaccine of each age group), conducting pre or post serology testing for stated client contacts as designated, following same contacts until the vaccine series is completed and post serology testing is completed as specified, following the positive mother through delivery of the baby, & following the baby until the baby has completed the vaccine series & post serology testing is conducted with results received by the Health Department.
